Description

Designed for riders who crave raw singletracks, total isolation, and authentic wilderness riding, the Backcountry E-Enduro Tour leaves the crowded trailheads behind to venture deep into the remote hinterland of Bardineto, Castelvecchio di Rocca Barbena, and the Val Neva.

The journey kicks off with a morning shuttle uplift to the alpine pass of Forte Melogno (1,200 m). A scenic warm-up through the ancient beech trees of the Barbottina forest leads into long, natural descents plunging straight into the Bardineto valley.

Using the climbing power of E-MTBs, we ascend the steep flanks of Monte Scravaion to access one of the most rewarding, panoramic ridge trails in the entire Ligurian Alps. The morning culminates on the iconic Supercanaletta descent, dropping directly into the 11th-century medieval village of Castelvecchio for a traditional lunch. The afternoon features more remote singletracks through deep woodland and old mule tracks before closing the loop back toward Finale Ligure.

General characteristics

  • Remote backcountry terrain stretching between Bardineto, Castelvecchio di Rocca Barbena and the Val Neva. Characterised by long descents, extensive forest sections and a predominantly natural trail network, it offers a markedly different experience from the more developed coastal riding zones.

Terrain

  • Mixed natural terrain featuring compact forest soil, exposed limestone rock, loose sections and occasional old mule-track surfaces. Trail conditions can vary significantly between shaded woodland and drier south-facing slopes.

Trails

  • A diverse mix of fast-flowing singletrack, natural enduro trails and old-school descents. Long runs such as Parpage, Pianfieno and Appendaun are combined with more technical trails including Ca du Campo, Supercanaletta and Dondella, creating a balanced blend of speed, flow and technical features.

Battery Minimum 500 Wh (625 Wh or 750 Wh recommended). Strict battery management in Eco/Tour modes is required due to 1,349 m of pedaling.
Helmet Mandatory to participate in our tours (a full-face helmet is recommended).

Daily Program

08:30 Meeting Point & Bike Check (Finalborgo) Meet at our base in Finalborgo (exact GPS coordinates provided upon booking confirmation). E-MTB setup verification: tire pressures, suspension SAG tuning, brake pad inspection, and route briefing with your certified local guide.
09:00 Shuttle Uplift (Finalborgo → Forte Melogno 1,200 m) Load bikes onto the shuttle van for a panoramic transfer up to the high pass of Forte Melogno, dropping into the backcountry at 1,200 m elevation with a 100% full battery.
09:40 Barbottina Forest Warm-up & Bardineto Descents Ride through the majestic beech forest of Barbottina to drop into the fast, natural lines of Pianfieno and Appendaun, descending directly into the village of Bardineto.
11:00 Monte Scravaion Alpine Climb & Ridge Descents Engage E-MTB assistance for a punchy climb up to Monte Scravaion. Ride the scenic high ridge and drop into the fast-flowing Dondella trail.
13:00 Lunch Break & Battery Recharge (Bardineto) Sit-down lunch break at an affiliated local trattoria in Bardineto. E-bikes are plugged into designated power outlets for a full recharge session (riders must carry their original charger).
14:45 Afternoon Backcountry Loop: Parpage & Euforia Refueled with full battery capacity, explore the wild Val Neva backcountry trails, tackling the flow lines of Parpage and technical rocky singletracks of Euforia.
16:30 Val Neva Link & Return Transfer Smooth road connection to the valley floor followed by a return transfer/train link back to the coast.
17:30 Finalborgo Arrival & After-Ride Drinks Roll back into the historic center of Finalborgo for a post-ride debrief and well-earned aperitivo.

The day begins with 1 shuttle uplift from Finalborgo directly to Forte Melogno (1,200 m) to bypass the long paved climb. From there, we navigate the valleys on our E-MTBs. In the late afternoon, the loop closes with a scenic link and transfer back to the coast.

Yes. We offer high-performance full-suspension E-Enduro rentals equipped with reinforced tires. Simply provide your height, rider weight (for custom SAG suspension setup), and pedal preference during checkout.

High-elevation areas like Forte Melogno and Monte Scravaion can experience alpine weather shifts. If cloud cover or rain compromises safety on high ridges, your certified guide will adapt the route toward lower, sheltered wooded valleys with superior grip, or reschedule/refund the tour.
